Dr. Michael Bahlatzis is a podiatric foot surgeon in Fort Myers with over 30 years of experience, including diagnoses, treatment, and reconstructive surgery of the foot & ankle. He is a graduate of Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine and received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) in 1987. He is a graduate of UHSA School of Medicine where he received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2007. Dr. Bahlatzis is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, along with being a Fellow and Member of the Board of Directors for the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons. He is board certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Prior to going to medical school he was a graduate of the Hudson Valley- Albany Medical College Physician Assistant Program. In addition to being a licensed Podiatric physician in Florida, he is also a Florida licensed and NCCPA board certified Physician Assistant.
Dr. Bahlatzis is a retired medical officer from the US Air Force with 20 years of distinguished service and held and retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel. His professional interests are focused around diagnosing and managing foot & ankle fractures and injuries, and performing all facets of foot and ankle surgery. He specializes in surgical correction of Hallux valgus/bunion deformities utilizing the latest surgical techniques including Lapiplasty/ Lapidus arthrodesis, correction of flat foot deformities and posterior tibial tendon dysfunction conditions utilizing triple arthrodesis/ joint fusions and Calcaneal osteotomies, has extensive expertise in performing heel spur excision surgery and plantar fasciotomy to help alleviate heel pain, repairs Achilles as well as other tendon tears, performs open reduction and internal fixation of foot and ankle fractures, has extensive expertise in treating fifth metatarsal fractures, performs pediatric surgery for correction of children’s foot deformities, treats and manages painful Morton’s neuroma and metatarsalgia conditions, sees and treats all forms of stress fractures of the feet and ankles, along with the treatment and management of numerous other foot and ankle disorders.
In his off time, Dr. B’s interests include serving his church, playing the drums, golfing, and wants to take up pickleball. He is excited to be a Floridian and looks forward to helping and caring for the great people of Florida.
